PSIng data protection policy

1. Preamble

Trust is the basis of networking.

Whether private or business: In a social context, trust is essential in building relationships. We realize this, and that is why we are doing everything we can to make PSIng and therefore your data as secure as possible. These pages tell you everything you need to know about security on the PSIng websites. Read about what we are doing, and how you can control your data on PSIng, and how you can contact us with any queries.

We believe in giving 100% commitment to your security: We do everything we can to ensure your security, both at a personal and technical level.

Data Protection According to Strict German Regulations

PSI Automotive & Industry GmbH (hereinafter “PAI”) is a German company; both the corporate headquarters and the data center for processing the data on the PSIng websites are located in the Berlin area. Accordingly, PAI is bound by the strict German data protection regulations.

The foremost principle of these regulations is “prohibition failing authorization”. This states that data may not be collected, processed or used if consent has not been explicitly provided by the user or if there is no legal permission. We therefore obtain user consent before any data is processed.

Data release: It’s in your hands!

At PSIng, the guiding principle is to give members all the tools they need to ensure full control of their data. Specifically, this means:

You yourself can decide what and how much you wish to write about yourself in your profile. PSIng as a business network does not request completely private information; the only compulsory information is your name and e-mail address.

SSL Encryption

As a social network, we encrypt all the data traffic of logged in members using the standard setting. This means using SSL (“Secure Sockets Layer”), which encrypts any data that is transmitted.

For you, this means that communication between your computer and our servers cannot be viewed externally – neither via your wireless network at home nor by the computers of your Internet provider.

Act with caution

The most important thing, however, is to be attentive. As a business network, PSIng is a trusted environment where you can engage in rewarding transactions, interesting dialog with experts, or simply discussions with other PAI users.

But, just as in real life, it is always advisable to proceed with caution. If an unknown member offers you large sums of money for a service, that would seem suspicious. Furthermore, if links to websites are sent to you in a language you do not speak, these may be dangerous. Therefore, the key thing to remember in PSIng is to act just as carefully as you would in a real environment.

Think about what you write and publish – both in your profile, in correspondence with others, and in groups. After all, your comments are associated with your name.

Only enter your phone number and address in the fields specified for that purpose. If you do not do this, and use the publicly visible fields “I’m looking for” / “I’m offering”, or even the company name field, this data will be visible everywhere just as if you had stuck it to your front door.

Using the Privacy Settings

Take a moment to set your privacy settings.

Publish only that data that you want to share.

Never give your login details to third parties.

If you have any suspicions, report the profiles and contact requests

Is the activity of another member suspicious? There are plenty of ways you can tell us. You can notify us directly in the event of contact requests, received messages, and on the profile view. You can also send us a contact form.

Do you have any more questions, requests or suggestions? We will be happy to answer them via the contact form!

This data protection policy supplements the “General Terms and Conditions for use of PSIng”.

2. Basic Principles of PAI when Processing Personal Data

3. Fixed Terms in this Data Protection Policy

PAI uses certain fixed terms in this data protection policy that you should know:

  • Personal data refers to all individual information about your personal or factual circumstances.
  • The websites on which PAI offers the PSIng services are referred to collectively as the “PSIng websites”.
  • The users registered on the PSIng websites are referred to as “PSIng users”.
  • The services subject to registration that are offered on the PSIng websites are referred to as “PSIng services”.
  • The personal information that must be entered when registering for the PSIng services (mandatory fields) are referred to as “registration details”.
  • The page on the PSIng websites where PAI displays the entered personal data is called the “profile”.

4. Which data is collected, what are PSIng users allowed to do, and what happens to personal data?

4.1 Registration Details

To ensure that the PSIng services function, certain personal data must be collected and processed as registration details during registration. This includes the following data:

  • E-mail address (user name)
  • Company name

A password is randomly generated by the system during registration, and is communicated to the user separately.

The user name and password are never visible to PSIng users. PAI will never pass this data on to any third party and/or notify third parties of such information in any other way.

Certain other fields must also be completed at registration:

  • First name, surname, title

The following information from the information in these fields is always visible to other PSIng users without restriction:

  • First name, surname

The PSIng user can personally decide whether and to what extent any of the other information is visible to other PSIng users.

4.2 Optional Information

Besides the registration information, additional optional information (hereinafter “optional information”) can be entered that allows PSIng users to get to know each other better, and to be selected as the right business contact. The optional information currently includes for example business contact information, private interests, education, companies where PSIng users were previously employed, what a PSIng user can offer other PSIng users or is looking for.

After it has been entered, optional information will be visible to all other PSIng users unless the information has been specifically flagged not to be displayed.

You can delete optional information from your profile at any time.

4.3 Profile, Contact Management

All PSIng users can look up a profile and also view the optional information that has been made available to all other PSIng users as per the settings.

PSIng users that request to be contacted personally will be saved in a contact list in the profile. If a PSIng user confirms a contact request, this PSIng user becomes a “confirmed contact”. Confirmed and unconfirmed contacts are stored separately.

PSIng users can send each other private messages to make contact.

5. Groups

On its websites, PAI offers certain groups and related services (hereinafter collectively referred to as “groups”).

Each group has one (1) group administrator. The group administrator chooses whether that group is public or whether only a certain group of people can access it. This information is displayed on the PSIng websites for the respective group.

Group administrators can invite others to join “their” group.

6. Search Functions

The PSIng services offer various options for searching for specific PSIng users, specific posts in the knowledge forum, and specific groups according to certain exchange offers. The various search functions, for example, allow PSIng users to find others with similar interests.

7. Cookies

Cookies are small files that allow PAI to save specific information related to the PSIng user on a PC or other device while the PSIng user uses the PSIng services. Cookies help PAI determine, for example, the frequency and the number of PSIng users on the PSIng websites, and to design the PSIng services so that they are as user friendly, efficient and interesting as possible for PSIng users.

Following your login (with user name and password), the PSIng services use “session cookies” that allow the individual PSIng users to be identified during their visit. These session cookies automatically expire at the end of the session.

The PSIng services also use “permanent cookies” to record information about visitors who repeatedly access PSIng services. These permanent cookies enable PSI to continuously improve the PSIng services. The permanent cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information. The name, IP address etc. are not stored. No individual profiling is carried out based on the usage behavior of PSIng users.

8. Log Files

Each time a page is called up, access data is stored in a log file known as the server log. The data record saved there contains the following data:

the time, the status, the request that the browser of the PSIng user submitted to the server, the amount of data transmitted, and the Internet page from which the PSIng user accessed the requested site (referrer), as well as

the product and version information of the browser used (user agent).

PAI uses the standardized “combined” log file format of the Apache web server. However, the IP address is not stored after the user has left the PSIng website. Once the session has ended, the IP addresses of users will be deleted or made anonymous subject to any statutory retention obligations. Where IP addresses are made anonymous, this is performed by changing the individual information regarding personal or material details so that it can no longer be associated with an identified or identifiable natural person or so that this is only possible with a disproportionate investment of time, cost and labor.

PAI uses the log data (logs) anonymously for statistical evaluations, that is, they have no relation or reference to individual persons. This allows PAI to determine, for example, on which days and at what times the services of the PSIng websites are particularly popular, and how much data is generated on the PSIng websites. Furthermore, the log files allow PAI to identify possible errors, for example broken links or program errors, and therefore to use the log files to further develop the PSIng websites. PAI does not link page visits and usage patterns stored in the server log with individuals. PAI reserves the right to use data from log files if there is reasonable cause to believe that users are using the PSIng websites and/or the PSIng services unlawfully or contrary to the contract. This ensures the protection of PSIng users, the security of PSIng user data, and also protects the PSIng websites and PSIng services.

9. Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses what are known as “cookies” – text files which are stored on your computer and enable us to analyse your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
However, if IP anonymisation is activated on this website, Google will first truncate your IP address within member states of the European Union or in other countries party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and truncated there. Google uses this information to analyse your use of the website as instructed by its operator to compile reports on website activities and to render further services relating to website use and internet use to the website’s operator.

The IP address transmitted by your browser in the context of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by making the appropriate settings on your browser. However, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the website (including your IP address) and from processing this data by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link (http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en).

You can prevent the collection by Google Analytics by clicking on the following link. This sets an opt-out cookie to prevent future collection of your data when you visit this website: Disable Google Analytics

Please note that the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” has been added to Google Analytics on this website to ensure anonymous collection of IP addresses (so-called IP masking).

We also use Google Analytics to evaluate data from AdWords and the DoubleClick cookie for statistical purposes. If you do not want this to happen, you can disable it using the Ads Preferences Manager (https://adssettings.google.com/anonymous?hl=en).

10. Duration of data storage/deletion of data

We store your data within the permissible duration of use and according to your consent. You can object to the use of the data and to request its deletion at any time.

11. legal basis of the processing

Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO serves as the legal basis for guaranteeing this service and its functions (fulfilment of a contract/consent).
